Suzanne Boatenreiter, Fingertips Pointed to the Moon, 2007 c-print

Suzanne Boatenreiter, curator of SFOS, is a mixed-media visual artist. Her artwork utilizes materials that arouse the senses (i.e. candy) as well as basic forms that are common symbols of seduction to stimulate ideas on hedonism. “My work investigates the boundaries of pleasure and pain, the subjective perceptions that define them, and the results of indulging in these and many of the other dichotomies associated. Such dualities include health and illness, masochism and compassion, contamination and catharsis, Buddhist ideas on dukkha (suffering) and nirvana, even binging and purging…”

Suzanne received her BA from Skidmore College and has studied at SACI (Florence, IT), the Art Student’s League, and Urbanglass (Brooklyn, NY). Her works have been shown at Moti Hasson Gallery (NYC), The Icebox (Philadelphia), The Exchange (NYC), and the Tang Museum (Saratoga Springs). Suzanne Boatenreiter currently resides in Brooklyn, NY continually participating in shows to help various organizations such as Change for Kids, Heartworks, and the HIV Law Project.
