This is a group of collages created while living in Tokyo, Japan this past summer. The imagery reflects scenes from my daily life: eating with roommates, staring in the bathroom mirror, going for a walk by the Tamagawa River, and my studio-classroom overlooking the city. I was fascinated by the many beautiful papers available in Japan, as well as the flattening of space in traditional Japanese art. This body of work reflects my life there through the lens of my impression of the Japanese formal sensibility.
